What’s new
Guild home and forum
Raidar provides a nice guild homepage for you. You can see guild details there, along with your guild raids overview, news and most recent discussions.
Raidar’s forum is available for your needs. There are several areas and categories automatically created for you (of course, you can edit them any time):
- Public – Discussions are visible to everyone. Ideal for news about your guild, recruitment information, etc. Anyone who comes to see your guild home can see this.
- Officers lounge – Need to discuss private matters with your fellow officers? This is the place. Only guild leader and officers have access here.
- Internal – Guildmates only discussions. No outsiders can see this.
Another great feature is raid forum. New discussion is created for each of your raids automatically. You can access it directly from the raids detail page and discuss strategy, group balance, or anything else with your guildmates.
You don’t have to hide your guild home from outsiders. Visitors that are not logged in or the ones that are not your guildmates will not see any internal (guild-only) information.
Coming soon: Custom domains and visual skins for your guild home on Raidar.
Raidar’s features
Raid balance
Raid balance is a great way to plan the configuration of your raid groups. It allows you to create a list of character roles required for the raid. All characters signed for raid will then be automaticaly assigned a role according to raid balance.
All characters can have labels:
- Some labels are created automaticaly (e.g. race and class labels).
- Other labels are based on combination of character’s class and it’s talents (e.g. shadow priest will have labels ranged, dps, while holy priest will have label healer). If you import your character form the Armory, these labels are generated for you automaticaly.
- Or you can add custom labels for your characters manualy.
When raid leader starts the raid, he can define the desired raid balance using these labels. He can define the combination of character labels required (e.g. melee, dps). All characters attending the raid with these labels will then fall into this category. Raid leader can also specify the number of requested characters with these labels (e.g. he needs 5x melee, dps characters).
The raid balance system is very flexible and it allows raid leaders to configure desired balance very generaly (e.g. 3x tank) or in much more detail (e.g. 1x druid, feral, tank and 2x warrior, protection, tank).
Raidar comes with few general predefined raid balances, which you can quickly choose when creating or editing the raid. Or you can define your own raid balance and save it, so that you can have it by hand for later use.
Joint raids
Raids on organized on Raidar can be of three types:
- Public - These raids are visible to all characters on the same realm. Anyone can attend them.
- Guild-only - Only members of your guild will be able to sign-up for these raids. This raid will be invisible to any other characters.
- Joint raid - Similar to guild-only raid, but you can invite characters from other selected guilds.
You can invite any number of guilds to the joint raid. List of the guilds you raid with frequently is displayed on your raid creation screen, along with the information about how many times did you already raid together and when was the last time.
Joint raids are great way for smaller guilds to organize raids for which they don’t have enough manpower on their own.
Guild invitations
There’s no reason to use Raidar without your guildmates. When you are starting to use Raidar, you want to get them registered and set-up quickly. There are two tools that will help you with that:
Invite guildmates by e-mail
If you know your guildmates' addresses, this is the best way to do it. Raidar will get the list of all members of your guild from the Armory. You can enter their e-mail addresses and send them the personalized invitation.
E-mail invitation contains a special link. It will take the invited guildmate to Raidar. After the login or registration, the invited character will be created automaticaly and it will be made member of your guild.
From your guildmates' point of view it is as simple as:
- click on link in e-mail
- register (free and easy, usualy done in few seconds)
- DONE!
Invite guildmates by special link
If you don’t know your guildmates' e-mail addresses, you can do it the other way. Raidar can generate a special link for you. Anybody who will come to Raidar using this link will have their character pre-approved as members of your guild.
Be careful with that. Don’t give this link to anybody. You should put it in your guild’s internal forum, so that only your guildmates can use it. Or you can put it as a guild message of the day in game.
This method is not as convenient as invitation by e-mail. The link is generic, so Raidar doesn’t know which character did you invite. New users will have to create their characters by their own. But with the Raidar’s Import from Armory feature, this is a breeze.
Forum
Raidar comes with it’s own full-featured forum. You can use it to discuss features, report bugs, or just to chat with other users.
- New threads and threads with unread replies are highlighted. Don’t miss a new reply in flame war anymore.
- Posts contain information about which post they reply to and the list of posts replying to it. Use quick links or smart highlighting to follow only posts you are interested in.
- Search across posts, threads and categories.
- Upload images to your posts, create galleries.
Coming soon:
- Raid discussion - A forum thread will be created automatically for each raid organized on Raidar. You will be able to discuss the right strategy or raid balance with your guild mates.
- Guild forum - Your guild’s own forum on Raidar. You will be able to discuss anything with your guildmates.
Support for Lich King characters and raids
Raidar is ready for Lich King expansion:
- Level cap is raised to 80.
- New class Death Knight is added.
- Raid templates for new raid instances are available on raid creation page.
Calendar view
Go to your raids list or to your guild’s raid plan page and click on the Calendar link above the list of raids.
And while we’re talking about calendars, there is one new small feature. When you create new raid, you can define an estimated duration. This is interesting mostly to users viewing their raids via iCal feed.
Safe login via SSL
Every time you login to Raidar, your private data is protected by SSL. You don’t have to worry about security.
NOTE to players using the same username/password for WoW and Raidar: Don’t be stupid. Sharing passwords is not secure. It doesn’t matter how secure the login is. If you use the same username and password for Raidar and WoW, go to your profile and change it right now.
Raidar on your mobile
First simple version of Raidar optimized for Raidar is available. You can’t do much there, yet.
Anyway, you can check your raids and sign-ups on your cellphone and let me know what you think.
Localizations
Raidar is available in English (by default), French and Czech languages. More translations are in the works. Currently we are working on Russian.
If you would like to volunteer for translation to your language, please let me know at support@wow-raidar.com
Raid management
- Raiders are now able to sign-up with multiple characters or to pass if they are not interested.
- Raid leaders can reject people or draft them as backup.
- Users can now sort, group and reorganize the list of attendees in raid details page. (No more bothering with resistances columns or grouping by classes.)
